Linda Samuals

2023 Tribute

IMG_2419.jpeg

In January 2023, while recovering from a fractured tibia her physical therapist noticed that her eyes were very yellow and she should go see her PCP immediately. Dr. Birnbaum was very

concerned as this is an indication of liver failure and a beginning symptom of something much worse. After a series of blood work and body scans the news we didn’t want to hear became true. Linda has pancreatic cancer and needs to see a surgeon immediately. We chose Dr. William Burns and his team at Johns Hopkins. They recommended treatment plan was to have 6 chemotherapy treatments prior to an extensive whipple procedure as the death risks were too high for post-op chemotherapy. After a 7 hour surgery and several weeks of recovery the next phase of treatment was radiation treatments for 5 weeks, 5 days per week. I’m happy to say that as of October 19th, Linda completed all her treatments. For the next 2 years Linda will be monitored closely with blood panels and scans.

A MESSAGE FROM BRIAN:

The motivation for this golf tournament stems from the loss of my mother, Barbara R. Dowell to cancer in January 2010. My mom was an amazing person who helped people look better and feel better about themselves. She practiced this everyday in her relationships. We want to honor my mom’s life, her wonderful successes and her passion for people.

Initially our family needed Wing of Hope for our own grieving & healing, and today we hope to pass that spiritual healing on to other Harford County families who have been affected by cancer. Join us in celebrating her life and others impacted by cancer and be a part of the superb opportunity to stand up to cancer.

Your participation CAN & WILL make a difference!
